Probably one of the best neighborhood bars I've seen in Chicago...friendly as advertised (thanx Yelp) with a nice staff who actual come across as real human beings vs. someone kissing your ass to up sell you drinks. Uptown isn't anywhere near my hood, but I'd be willing to make the trek up north again for this place. - Matthew S.
This place kind of rocks my world. Picture this: it is a cold Monday night, a friend and I stop in for a quick drink. Downstairs they are having a private white trash party- hilarious! Upstairs is pretty dead, but Shane the bartender is super friendly, makes whiskey suggestions, and even lets me try before I buy. Tasty. Then George the owner comes upstairs in all his white trash glory and buys shots for all 5 people in there. Then (he) buys us some whiskey shots. Then brings us some crazy food from the party (think meatloaf cupcakes, deep fried bacon wrapped hotdogs, tater tot casserole), then a beer/yahoo? Then some delicious tequila. WOW. And when our bartender from over a month ago (Nate) came in, he immediately recognized us and started chatting like we'd been there yesterday. THANKS, GUYS - we had a great time! These guys really go above and beyond. The Spot is now officially my neighborhood hangout bar! - Bailey H.
The Spot is really great. Casual fine dining downstairs, sports bar/live entertainment upstairs. I tried the filet about a year ago, and I haven't had a better steak since. It was mouth watering goodness. The "Mozzarella ala Carevella" was a surprise hit as well. The staff is down home good peeps. They have a lot of fun at this place. - Shoo B.
I LOVE THE SPOT! I have been there many times and embarrassed it has taken me so long to review. The food... Amazing, the staff is incredibly welcoming. Answer a few questions on a card and you most likely will get a free party. If its Comedy, Theater, Burlesque or Music, upstairs or downstairs this place rawks! Also... can you spell PBR tall boys? Well, if you can't, I just did for you. If you haven't gone already, pack your bags and let me know. I even took my whole family for Easter Brunch! Phenomenal! It's got a great creative... actor... theater... comedian crowd and staff it is impossible to show up and not be amused and have a great time! - Matt G
I usually find it's the people behind a business that make it so great...and this is exactly the case when it comes to The Spot. When the fabulously fun owner of The Spot, Brian, first gave me a tour a few months ago he shared that the concept behind The Spot is that "they are the spot for everyone." Sports bar fan? Head to The Spot. Looking for some good food? Yelp, The Spot can take care of that for you too! Looking for something a little swankier? Check out The Spot's Green Room. And so my partner in crime, Colleen C, and I decided that The Spot would be the ideal location for last night's Yelp Prom...finally a place that we thought all the different personalities of yelpers would enjoy. Brian and the rest of his staff know how to have a good time...oh yes, they'll be right next to you dancing on the bar! But there's more to this place that just a good time- delicious food and an impressive drink menu as well! Oh yes, I believe I've found one of my favorite spots in Chicago... - Andrea R.
The Spot is definitely a great place to throw a party! The mister and I came here for the very first time to attend the Yelp Prom and we were not disappointed. This bar really knows how to put together a great spread of food to feed the hungry and keep the drinks a-flowing to quench the thirsty! I was driving that night so after a couple of vodka punches, I spent the rest of the night only drinking diet Cokes. The best part was - they gave me the cokes on the house, what a nice gesture! The atmosphere is a blend of funky and classy. The first floor is classic bar and grill while the second and third floors are more intimate. I even spotted a "makeout room" upstairs complete with couches and a large-screen TV! - Linda P.
Three things about the Spot--if I don't limit myself, I'll go on forever: 1. Hands down, the best service ever. Everyone is super friendly--not in a creepy, fawning, get the F away from me way, but in a NICE way. 2. How much would you expect to pay for the best NY strip in the city? Less than $20? Absolutely. And after 6pm on Sunday, it is HALF PRICE. 3. The upstairs bar is fun as hell, whether karaoke's going on or not.

Sport Teams look to The Spot to sponsor you! My friends and I have been playing in The Spot's dodge ball league and we are having a blast.. Everyone is great. We get t-shirts, drink specials after the games and a chance to win a White Sox skybox! If you've got a sports team that needs to be sponsored, go to The Spot, you won't be disappointed. Oh, and they are looking to start a kickball league soon, how fun is that?!?!? Don't forget too, fantasy football is coming up fast -- last year I won a free trip to Hawaii on The Spot with my fantasy team! It's free to play so you won't want to miss that! - Heather B.
This place ROCKS!!! Many bars in one plus an awesome restaurant! Some friends of mine have been raving about this place for weeks now, and i finally had the time to join them. Having a blast does not justify it..beyond a blast. Understand that this place is many spots in one... a lounge for laid back intimate socializing, a 4 star restaurant, a leather couch chill out room for relaxing, and a get crazy sing along bar with live music. Each night there is something going on but for me it's SUNDAY NIGHT!!! EVERYTHING ON THE MENU IS HALF OFF!!! and it is delicious! But that's not why Sundays are for me at The Spot. For me it is the Drew and Paul show. These acoustic masters will have you laughing your ass off and whatever you are drinking will be coming out your nose. For those of you in the know Drew is the brother of Famed Musical Comedian Stephen Lynch. Get this, they have Boones Farm in the up stairs bar and it's become a cult hit. And it makes me laugh. So please do yourself a favor, you deserve a great time, come here eat then go up stairs and party your butt off. And FOR GOD SAKES COME ON SUNDAY NIGHT FOR The Drew and Paul Show. - Eric N.
